BORIS THE GREAT

Origins

Crafted as a tribute to resilience and boldness, Boris the Great was born from the mind and heart of Bill, one of Third State Brewing's founding brewers. Named after his father—a World War II veteran and a larger-than-life American figure—this Black Rye IPA mirrors Boris’s fierce character and unwavering grit. Before the brewery ever opened its doors, this beer won the Iron Hill Homebrew Competition, setting the stage for the journey that would become Third State Brewing. It’s a beer built on legacy, on conviction, and on the kind of strength that only comes from the people who shape us.

Robust and complex, Boris the Great stands up to bold flavors. Its roasted malt backbone and rye spice are perfect for smoked and grilled dishes. The beer’s depth pairs beautifully with charred meats, aged cheeses, and rich desserts that echo its bittersweet finish.

Tulip—The flared lip and inward curve of this glass accentuate the bold aromas of roasted malt and piney hops while preserving the creamy head.
